Mack: Major capital equipment investments
Officials from Mack – an Arlington, Vt.–based contract manufacturer and injection molded plastics parts provider – plan to use this year’s MD&M East to discuss significant capital equipment investments they’ve made in recent weeks. The company is presently installing a new 2,360-ton, 268-oz Haitian press at its Cavendish, Vt., facility. The press is able to handle 40,000-lb molds. It will be the largest press in Mack’s northern division.
Major capital investments at the Arlington headquarters include a new fully automated Trumpf 2030 4,000 watt fiber laser for sheet metal fabrication, as well as a FOBA M2000 laser marker for the finishing department. The machining department is meanwhile getting a Mazak Integrex i100S.
“Today, medical represents 35% of Mack’s business, driven in part by growth in parts that require specialized engraving on curved metal and plastic surfaces,” said Mack spokesman Larry Hovish.
