Sensirion has announced that product development for its single-use liquid flow sensor LD20 has been completed and is ready for production.
The flow sensor is designed to quickly and precisely measure the lowest flow rates and has already received a number of international awards. The sensor is compact and cost-effective and can be used for a variety of biomedical applications in critical and home care. Some examples include ambulatory infusion pump monitoring, ultra-low flow measurements of medications in neonatology and pediatrics and continuous urine flow measurement.
The LD20-2600B is based on Sensirion’s CMOSens Technology. Barbed fittings within the sensor make sure there is a safe and secure integration in fluidic lines. There are no moving parts in the straight and unobstructed flow channel design while medical-grade wetted materials allow for chemical resistance and media compatibility.
It can also detect common failure modes like occlusion, air in line or infiltration with its bidirectional measurement of flow rates from 1000 mL/h down to a single digit measurement. The company plans to release smaller versions of the flow sensor that can measure lower flow rates down to only a few hundred μl/h.
Sensirion will be presenting its new sensors at this year’s COMPAMED trade fair.
