Confluent Medical this week announced it has opened a Complex Catheter Design and Development Center in Austin, Texas.
The facility is a rapid-prototyping, development and pilot facility that expands the company’s ability to provide customers with electrophysiology and neuromuscular catheters and complex delivery systems for structural heart and vascular applications.
Confluent Medical also said its new development center will support customers from initial design to rapid-prototyping, regulatory supply and initial pilot builds for clinical trials. The Austin facility will also work closely with its Costa Rica manufacturing center for high-volume production.
“We’re extremely excited about our new Austin Catheter Development Center,” president and CEO Dean Schauer said. “It greatly expands our capability to develop new, ready-for-production catheter designs and solidifies our position as the industry leader in providing fully integrated solutions to medical device customers.”
Confluent has more than 20 years of catheter development and manufacturing experience. The company offers a wide range of in-house catheter designs ranging from catheter components and balloon catheters to articulating devices and complex delivery systems. Some of the processes the company offers include complex braided or coil-reinforced shafts, laser welding, over molding, balloon blowing, RF tip forming, robotic adhesives, multi-lumen extrusions and thermal bonding.
The new Austin, Texas development center adds on to Confluent’s footprint across the U.S., with facilities in Fremont, Calif.; Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Warwick, R.I.; Windham, Maine and San Jose, Costa Rica.
