Freudenberg Medical touts expanded catheter sensor integration capabilities

Freudenberg Medical recently announced that it has increased its catheter sensor integration capabilities.

The expanded capabilities allow the company to work with sensors for temperature and pressure, entire sensor arrays and fiber optic sensors in catheter manufacturing.

“At Freudenberg Medical, we understand the difficulty in handling delicate sensors in complex assembly processes. We recognize the need for manipulating the architecture and stacking of tolerances for these fragile components that experience both strain and compression simultaneously,” Mark Ostwald, president of Freudenberg Medical minimally invasive solutions, said in a news release. “Through our experience, we understand best how to cope with varying temperature, and the need to refine processes to make them more repeatable and better tuned for manufacturing.”

Freudenberg Medical’s catheter development capabilities now include advanced extrusion, handle and shaft development, balloon development and manufacturing, hypotubes and metal micro-components, assembly and sensor integration and coatings.
