Kelpac Medical buys VitalMED

January 11, 2016 By Fink Densford

kelpac-medical-1x1PPC Industries’ Kelpac Medical said today it bought medical injection molded component maker and design, development and contract assembly company VitalMED.

The acquisition of Lakeville, Mass.-based VitalMed will aid Kelpac in offering medical device component solution packages and opportunities, according to the company.

“The acquisition of VitalMED allows Kelpac Medical to execute on our strategy to provide a full range of customized medical components and assemblies to our current customer base. In addition to our current portfolio of customized medical tubing, medical packaging, micro bore tubing and catheters, our customers will now benefit from VitalMED’s comprehensive offering of precision molded medical components, development and contract services, and can take advantage of single-source solutions from a trusted partner,” CEO Jonathan Waldron said in a press release.

VitalMED founders Andrew Lanciano and Steve Walsh will stay active under the new ownership, and VitalMED will maintain its brand under Kelpac Medical, the company said.

“After 15 years of running VitalMED as a standalone organization, Steve and I are honored for VitalMED to become part of a larger, stronger organization and thereby provide additional value to our customers,” Lanciano said in a prepared statement.

“The VitalMED acquisition is a large step toward achieving our goal to become a multi-product, medical device componentry platform, and we look forward to continuing our organic and acquisition-driven growth toward that end,” PPC chair Joseph Lawler said in prepared remarks.
