Lumendi today announced that it launched its EZ Glide hydrophilic coating for double-balloon endoluminal devices.
The hydrophilic coating is designed for the inner sheath of the company’s DiLumen EIP double-balloon endoluminal, which is used to improve the navigation of the endoscope through the bowel to create a stabilizing therapeutic zone inside the colon in endoluminal interventions.
EZ Glide is activated by water or saline and improves endoscopic performance by stabilizing the endoscope tip and nearby anatomy; providing anatomic control to straighten and navigate tortuous anatomy for improved access to lesions and enabling safe and repeated access as a conduit for efficient exchange of tools and tissue removal, according to the company.
“The DiLumen EIP has the potential to improve or enable less invasive procedures for benign colorectal polyps, and can take the place of open or laparoscopic surgery, thereby preserving anatomy, shortening recovery and reducing healthcare costs,” CEO Peter Johann said in a news release.
