Smiths Medical this week launched its Portex polyvinyl chloride tracheostomy tube and kit portfolio.
The new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tube portfolio has options for a variety of patients, according to the company.
“Our goal was to create tracheostomy tubes and kits designed to help clinicians provide the best patient care. We’re excited to offer a variety of tubes and kits that empower clinicians with the ability to practice their way and more importantly, meet their patients’ needs,” chief marketing officer Ellen Frenkel said in a news release.
New benefits of the BLUselect tracheotomy tubes include availability with or without inner cannula, cuffed or uncured, fenestrated or unfenestrated and SuctionAid for above the cuff suctioning; color-coded by size tubes and packaging; laser printing on tubes that can’t be altered by secretions and cleaning; solid color markings to show non-fenestrated tubing and checkered color markings to show fenestrated tubing and tube flanges that are soft and bendable.
The new BLUperc and BLUgriggs percutaneous tracheostomy kits and trays include everything needed for the procedure; a single tray layout that matches the steps in the clinical tracheostomy procedure and flow counter-clockwise for efficiency and a patented single-handed guide wire feeder for both left- and right-handed clinicians.
