Applied Plastics adds PTFE Natural coated hypotubes to online webstore

April 12, 2022 By Chris Newmarker

Applied PlasticsApplied Plastics, a portfolio company of Vance Street Capital, recently announced that it has added PTFE Natural coated hypotubes to its online webstore.

PTFE Natural is a proprietary coating process that delivers a lubricious and durable coating to support advanced catheter design, according to the Norwood, Massachusetts–based company.

Currently, the online store offers more than 100 PTFE coated mandrels and fine wire sizes ranging from 0.007 in. to 0.100 in. in diameter. The expanded product offering will include PTFE Natural coated hypotubes in French sizes ranging from 15 (.197 in.) to 30 (.393 in.).  PTFE coated hypotubes are available in 60 in. lengths and every shipment includes a Certificate of Compliance.

The large diameter hypotubes could play a role in structural heart and electrophysiology manufacturing applications, according to Applied Plastics officials.

“Over the past two years, the webstore’s availability of PTFE Natural coated mandrels and fine wire has been well received by our customers. Based on market feedback, we are excited to add large-diameter hypotubes to broaden our product offering to support catheter research and development,” said Tom Barrett, CEO of Applied Plastics.
