EvoEndo CEO to leave, replacement named

April 6, 2023 By Sean Whooley

evoendoEvoEndo announced today announced a new CEO and COO along with the departure of previous CEO Heather Underwood.

Denver-based EvoEndo, which develops transnasal endoscopy technology, named Jonathan Hartmann as president and CEO. It appointed Ryan Hartman to the COO position. Underwood intends to remain with the company through April to support the leadership transition.

Underwood and EvoEndo featured in the Medical Design & Outsourcing 2022 Women in Medtech issue’s list of women-led startups.

“I am incredibly honored to have led the EvoEndo team through significant milestones over the past three years,” said Underwood. “We have positioned EvoEndo as a pioneer in the TNE industry, received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the EvoEndo single-use endoscopy system, gained early commercial traction in leading pediatric hospitals in the U.S., won prestigious awards, grew the company’s patent portfolio, and hit key reimbursement milestones.

“We are pleased to welcome Jonathan and Ryan to the EvoEndo team. Their backgrounds in GI and endoscopy will be instrumental as we continue to evolve the unsedated endoscopy landscape for physicians, patients, and their families.”

About new EvoEndo CEO Jonathan Hartmann

Hartmann brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in new health technology markets. His leadership history includes small and large companies ranging from laparoscopy product launches to market development.

“With the company primed for commercial growth and expansion, this is the right time for a transition, and Jonathan’s vast and reputable experience makes him the right person to serve as EvoEndo’s next CEO,” Underwood said.

Before joining EvoEndo, Hartmann served as CEO at Sofregen Medical, where he now serves on the board of directors. He held roles of increasing responsibility as CEO, GM and VP at Axsun Technologies. Hartmann also serves on the board at Nirrin Technologies.

“I am truly thrilled to join and lead the EvoEndo team as we continue to deliver on our mission of enabling a safe alternative to sedated endoscopy for both pediatric and adult patients,” said Hartmann. “I look forward to working with this incredible team, to driving the next phase of strategic growth, and to executing and supporting the initiatives that will enable a bright future for EvoEndo.”

About new COO Ryan Hartman

Ryan Hartman brings more than 23 years of experience in global leadership positions. These span sales, marketing, product development and operations.

Prior to joining EvoEndo, he spent two years as CCO at Trice Medical. Before that, he served in several leadership positions in the endoscopy division over 20 years at Boston Scientific. That includes the role of VP of marketing.

The company expects Hartman to lead and scale EvoEndo’s growth and business operations. That includes sales marketing, and commercial development.

“I am excited to join the leadership team alongside Jonathan,” said Hartman. “As chief operating officer, I look forward to building on EvoEndo’s track record of success and immense potential for continued expansion and growth as we continue to advance the standard of care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.”

A previous version of this article described Underwood as EvoEndo’s co-founder and CEO. She only held the title of CEO. This article has been updated.
