Resonetics acquires Swiss manufacturer Medelec

June 21, 2018 By Danielle Kirsh

resonetics-medelecResonetics (Nashua, N.H.) announced today that it has acquired Medelec (Puidoux, Switzerland). The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are excited about the Medelec team joining Resonetics. Marc and Sandra But have established a very strong reputation in the medtech industry for precision and quality and have made significant investments in technology to complement their decades of experience,” Tom Burns, president and CEO of Resonetics, said.

Medelec is a supplier of metal tubing and other components to the medical devices industry. The company was founded in 1952 and uses a wide variety of metals including assorted stainless steels and precious and semi-precious metals. It also offers additional manufacturing capabilities like laser cutting and welding and CNC machining.

“Sandra and I felt the time was right to find a partner like Resonetics that could help us expand the business further on a global scale,” Marc Butty, president of Medelec, said. “There are many synergies between the companies and we believe our customers will benefit by combining our resources and capabilities.”

Medelec will continue to run under the name Medelec until Oct. 1. After that, the company will become Resonetics Switzerland. The company’s owners and president will keep their leadership roles as Resonetics adds additional resources to the location to accommodate future growth.
