Trelleborg recently announced that it has acquired Sil-Pro, a Delano, Minn.–based medical device manufacturing outsourcer with a specialty in silicone and thermoplastic molding.
Financial terms of the deal, which closed Jan. 2, were not disclosed. Founded in 1998 and owned by two generations of the Carver family, Sil-Pro has an employee count in the 200 to 500 range, according to its LinkedIn profile.
Going forward, Sil-Pro will go by the name Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Delano. Trelleborg Sealing Solutions officials say Sil-Pro’s offerings complement the capabilities they already had, including what Trelleborg added through the 2016 acquisition of SSF (Specialty Silicone Fabricators)
“Sil-Pro bolsters our existing manufacturing footprint with enhanced capabilities in medical silicone and thermoplastic processing, component machining and assembly,” said Ursula Nollenberger, product line director for global elastomer operations at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions.
“We have great synergies on the engineering side with outstanding expertise in product and process development, tool making and automation,” Nollenberger said.
Brian Higgins, director of business development for Sil-Pro, said it was exciting to become part of the Trelleborg, Sweden–based Trelleborg Group and its facilities around the world.
“We see this being of mutual benefit to both our customers and the Sil-Pro team,” Higgins said.
