1. Sensirion: Flow and pressure sensors

Sensirion is touting its new and enhanced sensor solutions for measuring humidity and temperature, gas and liquid flow and differential pressure at MD&M Minneapolis this year.

The company’s LD20 series sensors use liquid flow sensing technology in a single-use design that can be used for high volume applications in a variety of medical applications. The sensors have a bidirectional measurement of flow rates ranging from below 1 ml/h to 1200 ml/h. It can also detect common failure modes like occlusion, free flow or air bubbles.

Sensirion’s proximal flow sensors are designed for neonatal flow measurements. They are best used for measuring air flow in respiratory applications including ventilation and anesthesia. Its use has since been expanded to include a sensor for neonatal and pediatric applications. The sensors feature fast update time, high measurement accuracy and robustness, according to the company. They are fully calibrated and are temperature compensated. The sensors are also available in single-use or a reusable/autoclavable version.

The differential pressure sensors offered by Sensirion are 5-by-8-by-5 mm3 and are designed to be used in home care devices, portable devices and eHealth devices. The SDP3x sensor has long-term stability and no zero-point drift. It is also reflow solderable and has extended functionality.
