B. Braun Medical — known for its focus on infusion therapy — has released its Introcan Safety 2 IV catheter, equipped with multi-access blood control.
This addition to B. Braun’s line of passive needlestick prevention catheters emphasizes minimizing potential risks during the IV process. In addition to automatic needlestick protection, clinicians are protected from blood exposure by a blood control feature every time they access the hub – reducing the risk of bloodborne pathogen exposure throughout the IV process.
Needlestick injuries pose risks during IV access, potentially exposing clinicians to bloodborne pathogens.
Additionally, the issue of blood exposure from catheter hub spillage is a concern for many clinicians. The new Introcan Safety 2 Catheter’s multi-access blood control feature aims to address this, reducing both the occurrence of blood exposure and the subsequent cleanup.
“The newly launched Introcan Safety 2 IV catheter with multi-access blood control provides clinicians with another option when choosing the right device for their patients,” said Chad Laity, director of marketing for B. Braun Medical’s vascular access, IV systems and securement offerings.
Laity added in the news release: “When combined with our Peripheral Advantage program, our technology and solutions are designed to facilitate the best possible outcomes around vascular access care.”
