Inari Medical — now part of Stryker — today announced the launch of its next-generation InThrill thrombectomy system.
The company describes InThrill as the first and only purpose-built small vessel and arteriovenous (AV) access thrombectomy system that can deliver fast, complete luminal clot removal.
Inari says its second-generation, 8-Fr, over-the-wire system comprises the InThrill thrombectomy catheter and InThrill sheath. The company built it upon a familiar platform optimized to become the standard for AV access and small vessel thrombectomy. According to Inari, the system includes distinctive features that offer unmatched efficiency and clot removal.
Features include increased radial force for improved luminal wall apposition for optimized clot removal. Its offset single open mouth optimizes clot capture and removal while internal struts deliver even clot distribution within the element. The system’s redesigned backend streamlines ergonomics and improves the user experience.
InThrill also includes a newly designed nitinol element for wall-to-wall clot removal in 4–10 mm vessels.
Dr. Joshua Pinter and Dr. Anish Ghodadra of the UPMC healthcare system performed the first commercial cases with InThrill in May. Pinter said the latest generation of the solution made thrombectomies “more effective and consistent than ever.” Ghodadra added that the small vessel tool “has changed our paradigm for treatment of AV access thrombectomy.”
“The launch of the next-generation InThrill Thrombectomy System reflects our deep commitment to solving real-world challenges in vascular care,” said Tim Lanier, president, Inari Division. “This latest innovation delivers new tools and enriches our work with physicians in the vascular space.”
