Olympus announced that it launched a new hemostasis clip to meet the needs of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopists.

The company’s Retentia HemoClip offers 360° rotation and an intuitive one-step deployment. This provides control over placement with three different sizes to accommodate a variety of closure applications.

Retentia HemoClip features arm lengths of 9mm, 12mm and 16mm to accommodate a variety of closure applications. Its short tail length helps with visualization of the target site to facilitate multiple clips compared to long tail lengths. The system’s sheath markings aid in insertion and extraction, while an intuitive handle enables single-step deployment.

Olympus plans to launch Retentia HemoClip in the U.S., with future plans for global expansion as well. It constitutes part of the company’s comprehensive EndoTherapy portfolio.

“The Retentia HemoClip is another example of Olympus’ commitment to understanding the needs of clinicians and addressing them, and for this reason among others, we are excited to bring this solution to the market,” said Mike Callaghan, global VP and GM for EndoTherapy, Olympus Corp. of the Americas. “As procedural needs within GI endoscopy continue to evolve, so too must our solutions. Features like ease in deployment and a broad range of size options have become imperative for procedure success, and we’re proud to deliver on these improvements for GI endoscopists.”
