The Campbell, California–based company said in a news release that Zoom 4S represents its latest innovation in ischemic stroke treatment. It built Zoom 4S for ease of use and to empower physicians with a device designed to navigate a range of patient anatomies.
Imperative Care engineered the Zoom Stroke System, now enhanced with Zoom 4S, to simplify stroke thrombectomy by reducing the number of device exchanges. Zoom delivers fast and effective clot removal from access through reperfusion. It treats patients with acute ischemic stroke, enabling smooth tracking through challenging vasculature.
The system utilizes the ADAPT 2.0 next-generation approach to stroke treatment. ADAPT (A Direct Aspiration First Pass Technique) 2.0 combines 0.088” intracranial access, asymmetric aspiration, and the continuous dual aspiration technique (CDAT) to provide fast and effective clot removal. Imperative Care says Zoom is the only mechanical thrombectomy system capable of performing a procedure using this approach.
The company says adding Zoom 4S enhances the ADAPT 2.0 technique’s capabilities with a single setup, simplifying the procedure.
Richard Leparmentier, chief technology officer, said:
“At Imperative Care, we believe that it is our responsibility to bring the most advanced technologies to market, with the goal of improving patient outcomes by shaping the arc of innovation in stroke care. With a focus on reducing treatment times and streamlining stroke procedures, we have purposefully engineered one simple Zoom setup to bring the key procedural benefits of the ADAPT 2.0 technique to more patients. With the introduction of Zoom 4S, Imperative Care is heralding this new chapter of stroke care, as we believe this combination of technologies will provide physicians with the confidence to effectively address a broad range of clot locations using a single setup.”
